Mr. Michael Busekrus Named Principal Effective July 16, 2018

I am pleased to announce, in collaboration with Dr. Jennifer Bigelow (Superintendent of Catholic Schools), Sister Karl Ann Homberg (Asst. Superintendent for Catholic Leadership), and the members of the Principal Search Committee, the appointment of Mr. Michael Busekrus as Principal of St. Veronica Catholic School, effective July 16, 2018.

Mr. Busekrus (/Boo Z Cruise/) is a seasoned elementary Catholic school principal in both the Diocese of Arlington, VA and the Diocese of Honolulu, HI with over twenty-eight years of experience as an administrator and teacher. Mr. Busekrus comes to St. Veronica after serving five years as Principal of St. John Academy in McLean. Prior to that, Mr. Busekrus was the principal at St. John Vianney Parish School in Kailua, Hawaii, for four years, and a teacher for nineteen years at Le Jardin Academy also in Kailua, Hawaii. Mr. Busekrus has both a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Education Degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He also has a Master’s of Education Degree in administration and supervision from Marymount University. Mr. Busekrus is married and has six children. His wife, Malia, is a teacher at St. Thomas More Cathedral School in Arlington.

The Principal Search Committee worked thoughtfully and deliberately to acquire, evaluate, and interview a number of potential candidates. Mr. Busekrus came highly recommended to us from many sources, including teachers, staff, and school parents at St. John Academy. After meeting with him in person, it became abundantly clear that he possessed the level of experience, temperament, collaborative work ethic, and spiritual leadership that would best serve our entire St. Veronica community, most especially our students.

Please help me in welcoming Mr. Busekrus and his family to our St. Veronica family. May God bless him, our school, and all of you. May our Heavenly Mother and St. Veronica intercede for us.

In Christ,

Father Dennis Kleinmann
