Therefore, in the liturgy, you are much more than simple “helpers of the parish priest.” Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, of the eternal High Priest. Thus, you, altar servers, are called in particular to be young friends of Jesus. Be determined to go deeper and to cultivate this friendship with him. You will discover that in Jesus you have found a true friend for life. (Pope Saint John Paul II)
Altar Servers are a team of dedicated young men in grades 5 – 12 who serve Mass on a regular schedule. Servers are trained in the skills to serve at daily Mass, Sunday Mass as well as special Masses.
Altar servers have the opportunity to gain a greater appreciation of the Holy Mass and the importance of liturgy. Experienced servers also develop leadership skills as they teach, lead and inspire a new cadre of servers. We welcome any young man who has interest in being a part of this important parish group. Training sessions, led by our Parochial Vicar, are scheduled several times throughout the year.
If you have any questions about serving, please contact Fr. Richard Dyer, frdyer@stveronica.net, or phone 703-773-2000.
