Ash Wednesday is a day of Fast and Abstinence

February 24, 2020 4:40 pm

Everyone 14 years and older is bound to observe the law of abstinence from meat.  (This applies during the Fridays of Lent as well.)  Everyone from 18 years up to the beginning of the 60th year is also bound to observe the law of fast.  On this day, only one full meatless meal is allowed.  Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal.
